“Employees leave supervisors” is a common concept within organizations. With the demanding, competing priorities housing professionals manage, the role of one’s supervisor is even more heightened. What happens when that supervision is abusive? This session explores the concept of abusive supervision, utilizing recent research from the field of organizational behavior. Participants will develop a basic understanding of abusive supervision, identify several theories of how and why it occurs, discuss ways to address it, and learn of ways to systematically reduce abusive supervision within an organization.
